Miketz (Weekly Torah)

Miketz: Summary & Reflections

Summary (Genesis 41:1-44:17)

Joseph interprets Pharaoh’s dreams, predicting seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Pharaoh appoints Joseph minister of food security. During the family, Joseph’s brothers come to him to buy grain. They do not recognize Joseph, but he recognizes them. Privately, Joseph cries. But he torments his brothers, framing them for theft. Ultimately he demands the family give him their youngest brother Benjamin as a slave.
